Animal Crossing is a game about being a resident representative at an island you live on! From the beginning of the game you are tasked by Tom Nook, a wealthy racoon, to help him out and spruce up the new island you are on. The great feature of the game is that it is all time based on your geographic location from your game device. This also means that the seasons also affect your game as well, for example; currently in the game since it is February, there is snow on the ground. There are also little snowflakes in the game as well to show that there is some type of wind that can move the snowflakes around. Depending on where the sun is, whether or not there are clouds in the sky, the objects, and characters can cast a shadow, which is a very nice touch.

The game has a wide range of color palettes, as there are many colors and shades on the screen at any given moment. Sometimes in certain places such as Nook's Cranny and Able Sisters shop there can be very bold pops of color within them. Whether it's a bed, tissue box, or a cool hat or costume, there are special pops of color. There is a huge opportunity to decorate islands as much as you can, so many users can have a certain color theme for their islands, such as blue or gray, but also similar color styles, such as pastels, earthy tones, etc.

The game's art style is very smooth, but defined. The characters' hands are balls, they all have a very round face, and their feet are also very round, which gives the game a childish vibe so to speak. The other characters in the game are animals, and many of them have hard features like the elephants that have tusks, or the wolves that bare their fangs, but they are usually a rounded point which gives a softer appearance. The game also brings in a feature of render distance and point of view, as the game is third person, but you can change your view to be level with the character, above the character and angled, or almost straight above the character’s head, which changed the view ability in the background of the game.
