The Sims 4 is a simulation game that allows you to fully customize your character from the very beginning. From being able to change the hair, eyes, nose and more, the user can physically edit the face shape such as raising the cheekbones, widening the face, making the nose longer, and more. Height, weight, and even physical strength are options that can be altered as well. Hair can be changed based on the style as there are straight hairstyles and curly hairstyles. Clothing is also another aspect you can change. There are many different types of fabric used for clothing with all kinds of different designs, such as a satin dress, or a super sparkly dress that has glitter on it.

To begin with, the game has a realistic art design. The houses, people, and even the trees are realistic, and although water is not the easiest to look realistic, the game does do a nice job at still making the water look like water. There are different looks to each type of grass, one with little flowers, and others that have less grass and more gravel. The sky is generic, with not too much different precipitation, but the game does have a daylight cycle, which helps it look like a simulation game better.

The colors used in the game are mostly realistic, with the exception of some more vibrant skin colors such as green, blue, and pink. The colors are mostly normal and the different colors and customized clothing options can be achieved in real life. The colors of objects are also achievable in real life as well, including couches, tvs, kitchen countertops and even the curtains and rugs. On a separate note, the game includes objects such as curtains, rugs, and other types of décor. The curtains each have options that range from short to long curtains, and then different colors and patterns for each type. Each rug also has a different size and patterns that the user can pick from.
